TRAVERSE v11 already prepared for Windows 8 Release

A beta version of Windows 8, called the Consumer Preview, was made available to the public on February 29th, 2012. While not suitable for business critical use, it provides an opportunity for you to see Microsoft’s new user interface, called the Metro UI, which features an active, tile-based desktop. This is a fairly significant change to the user interface (similar to the change from Windows 3.1 to Windows 95) which will likely face resistance in some corporate environments. Those familiar with the Windows Phone 7 user interface will instantly recognize the Metro UI.

Microsoft is introducing a third class of operating system with Windows 8. "Windows On ARM" (WOA) will join the server and workstation operating system classes. WOA is designed to be the operating system for a consumer class of tablet devices that run on chips that use the ARM architecture. Legacy Windows software, like TRAVERSE and OSAS, will run on the standard Windows 8 workstation, but will not run on ARM devices without an ARM-based client (such as remote desktop). Microsoft wants developers to build completely new software that is touch friendly and optimized to reduce power usage to conserve batteries. Watch for new sales and executive tools for TRAVERSE on these devices when they, and Windows 8, are officially released this fall.
